Review

Book 2 in this series about three siblings, a sister who is the legitimate offspring of a selfish, mean, unloving and vengeful Texas rancher, and two half brothers, both of whom are illegitimate and for whom their father cared nothing. Now in his will he has left a third of his ranch to each of them, and instead of driving them apart, they have each found a family and genuine caring that they never expected. This second book is about a former Chicago cop who was severely burned in a warehouse fire and wounded with gunfire to the extent that he had to retire. Now he is learning that he has a new place to begin again, discovering that there really are people who don't see the outside nearly as much as they value what's on the inside. A very endearing love story and one that embraces the Native American Cherokee tradition as well as brings to the fore the qualities of forgiveness--forgiving oneself is a part of that--as well as renewal and reclaiming the best of the human spirit. A really great read!
